The most amazing thing happens when you open up your eyes in the morning.
Amazing—because you have absolutely no idea what’s going on.
No clue where you’ll be 5 years from now, who your dearest friends will be in 2, or who the person making coffee in the kitchen could be (but they’re an angel because there’s nothing more loving than that first cup made exactly how you like it).
The sounds outside your window are new, the rhythm and energy outside, although familiar, is definitely not consistent. And if, like me, you’re removing most social media, no clue what a billion random people are doing or plan to do. Which tbh feels healthy.
Even as the world outside shifts, my feet find the same soft worn rug, my hands reach for the same cute mug. My body relaxes as I bend down to swing my arms low and the wide up and above my head, twisting side to side before padding to the bathroom for a cold water SPLASH. Some things stay* and that’s nice.
It’s funny and humbling and powerful and uncomfortable, but it’s okay to not know what’s coming. So here we are, opening our eyes to a new day. The unknown stretches out before us, but our bodies, our breath, already know what to do. Without noticing, you’ll…
…take a deep automatic breath and your lungs move the old oxygen out while your brain gets ready to glitter—and like stars, all those hidden sparks that make up you light up. A quiet charge before the day begins.
Anything could happen.
Sometimes it’s important to remember that this matters. The world can stay quiet and unintrusive as long as needed. With anxieties and hurt constantly thrown our way—news cycles, social feeds, the “how can you not have a strong opinion about this topic that just gurgled to the surface”, the arguments waiting around every corner—it’s incredibly important to remind ourselves that we opened our eyes, breathed, and that’s enough.
So to anyone that needs a temple massage, a warm cup of coffee with a loved one, a yap sesh, a bit of whipped cream on ice cream, a silent gym friend. I fully support you.
Take what you need—stillness, warmth, the space for a few what-ifs, a moment to just be. My eyes are open. I'm here.
And that’s enough for today.
